Screening of LUKi and the Lights

November 12, 2024 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Join us for a special screening of LUKi & the Lights, an animated short film designed to help children understand ALS. Hosted by the I AM ALS Community Outreach Team, this free event will take place on Tuesday, November 12th, from 7 PM to 8 PM EST.

Sascha Groen and her late husband, Anjo Snijders, who was diagnosed with ALS/MND at 35, created LUKi to explain the disease to their young children. The film follows LUKi, a delightful robot whose life changes with his diagnosis, but with the support of his friends, he continues to shine bright. This 11-minute silent film is perfect for families, encouraging meaningful conversations.

A Q&A session will follow the screening, moderated by Lorri Carey, who lives with ALS and hosts the I’m Dying To Tell You podcast. This is a great chance to ask questions about the film, its potential Oscar nomination, and support resources for children and families affected by ALS/MND.

Director Toby Cochran, Producer Adrian Ochoa, and Global Neuro YCare founder Dr. Melinda S. Kavanaugh will be in attendance, eager to hear your thoughts and answer your questions.
