I am Tina Baum

a family member of someone we've lost to ALS

Pennsylvania

live every day praying that no other family or victims will go through the horror of ALS and its death sentence.

My strong, athletic high school sweetheart… catcher, football player and wrestler. Fast forward 47 years, 2 children and 4 grandchildren and ALS sucker punched our family and there is no going back from that day.

Two and a half years after the diagnosis, my best friend—the kindest, most loving man, left this earth. His fingers, hands, arms, then legs and breathing strength all compromised. All disappeared in waves almost crashing in on us weekly. Jim never lost his speech and 5 minutes before he passed he said I love you, I love you, I love you. Closed his eyes and left me.

I live every day praying that no other family or victims will go through the horror of ALS and its death sentence.
