I am Seth Palmer

a family member of someone we've lost to ALS,
living with ALS

North Carolina

While my Granny lost her voice, I used mine to support efforts to those fighting ALS and it has been a passion of mine for the past decade.

I am involved in ALS advocacy because of my Granny, Annette Spencer who passed away in 2011.

When I was young, my Granny made it possible for my parents to work without putting me in daycare. She took care of me before I knew anything or said a word. Once I began speaking though, as she told my mother, it was like I had been pricked by a victrola needle. I could talk about anything to anyone and even gave sermons after Sunday lunch.

My Granny was diagnosed with ALS just after I graduated college and was starting my career in advocacy. I lived two hours away from her so I was not able to spend as much time with her as I wanted so I looked for ways to give back to organizations fighting for those who were living with the same horrible disease that would ultimately take my Granny from my family.

While my Granny lost her voice, I used mine to support efforts to those fighting ALS and it has been a passion of mine for the past decade.
