I am Philip Green

living with ALS

California

I now have four children and it was fun to introduce them to the Mariners and take them to games.

My connection with baseball started at age 8 in Cheyenne, WY playing Little League. It wasn’t until I moved to Bellevue, WA at age 10 that I attended my first Major League Baseball game to watch the Seattle Mariners play in the Kingdome. The Mariners remained my team even though we moved to the Bay Area and my friends in Walnut Creek were fans of the A’s or the Giants.

I ended up going back to Seattle for college and was able to get back to seeing the Mariners in their home ballpark again. I now have four children and it was fun to introduce them to the Mariners and take them to games. We were fortunate to have a good friend, Angie Mentink, be an on-air personality for the Mariners, giving our family a unique connection to the team. Beyond that, I helped my college friend Jarrett Mentink (Angie’s husband) publish children’s books he had written about Mariners players Bret Boone, Ken Griffey Jr, and Felix Hernandez. My family and I are looking forward to celebrating the inaugural Lou Gehrig Day in Seattle to watch the Mariners take on the A’s.
