I am Payton Hardinge

a family member of someone we've lost to ALS

Virginia

My mom lived a life of continuing education and service. She was an advocate for public education, served 17 years on the local school board, and was a professor in higher education for more than 20 years.

My mother, Gail, was diagnosed in November of 2020 with sporadic ALS. Her disease progression was quick – and we lost her in May of 2021.

My mom lived a life of continuing education and service. She was an advocate for public education, served 17 years on the local school board, and was a professor in higher education for more than 20 years.

She was frustrated by the lack of data and understanding of ALS, and that no treatment options had progressed over the years. We chased clinical trials and new drugs, supplements and dietary changes to no avail.

It’s my hope, and was hers as well, that other patients and their families in the future will have more options.
