I am Michael Cosgray
a family member in a familial ALS family,
a family member of someone we've lost to ALS,
an ALS gene carrier,
someone who cared for a person we've lost to ALS
At 17, I drove her to a MLB game, bought her an ice cold Coke, and we enjoyed every pitch together. ALS can't steal THAT.
Little did I know a pair of tickets my father handed me to sit in green seats at Riverfront Stadium would be the last baseball game I would ever enjoy with my mother.
It was brutally hot. A right handed Red sent a line drive right at her head. I was ready to defend her, but a fan sitting in the row in front of us deflected it just before it hit my hands!

Now, her baby boy is carrying the c9orf72 gene that obviously killed her and her father.
