I am Mia Wellons-Carlisle

a family member of someone we've lost to ALS,
living with ALS,
someone who cared for a person we've lost to ALS

Frustrated at times but we made the most of a happy day knowing it could be her last.

My grandmother, Christine Goodman Baker, died September 24, 1994. I saw a thriving dance teacher lose her ability to talk. Then write, then type and finally had to use an alphabet board.

The lady who tought dance and ran circles around children, who loved to garden and stay busy and active become hunched over with no strength to stand up or down and wheelchair confined. I will say her spirits were always high and she was happy. Frustrated at times but we made the most of a happy day knowing it could be her last. We both cherished each other and had no regrets.
