I am Lisa Strine

a family member of someone we've lost to ALS,
an ALS healthcare professional,
someone who cared for a person we've lost to ALS

Ohio

Like Lou Gehrig, up until his death Feb 22. 2021, my dad considered himself the Luckiest Man. My dad is my hero.

My dad Don Grehory is a Navy Veteran who has played baseball all his life. After high school, he was recruited to attend a few of the Cincinnati Reds training camps but was told he needed to gain some weight. My dad went on to enlist in the Navy and played baseball for them in Coronado. He has been a Cincinnati Reds fan his entire life. At the age of 87 my dad was diagnosed with ALS. When he was diagnosed he understood right away what it was saying the Lou Gehrig movie was one of his favorites. Like Lou Gehrig, up until his death Feb 22. 2021, my dad considered himself the Luckiest Man. My dad is my hero. I am his proud daughter, caregiver and a hospice nurse who advocates for ALS patients in the Central Ohio area.
