I am Lei Ann Mitchell

a family member of someone living with ALS,
living with ALS

Ohio

His idea of fun on a Friday night was to work around the house and get things done. It isn't like that anymore.

My husband was diagnosed a little over two years ago. He was about to turn 42. We have three young boys. He is still working for a great, caring company. His arms are mostly affected. It is hard to watch him slowly deteriorate in front of our eyes. He was always a doer. He built and bricked our house with his own hands. His idea of fun on a Friday night was to work around the house and get things done. It isn’t like that anymore. I now run a chainsaw and split firewood. He has talked me through changing the faucet on our kitchen sink. Recently, he guided me through changing the solinoid on our lawn mower. Our life is very different, but he is here and we are trying to enjoy it.
