I am Kimberly Stack

a family member of someone living with ALS,
caring for someone living with ALS

Massachusetts

There is no ALS in the family but Alzheimer’s. Because of that, he had genetic testing and was found to have the C9 mutation.

My husband was diagnosed with ALS in April of 2019, after an increasingly problematic foot drop. He is a childhood cancer survivor and a cancer researcher. There is no ALS in the family but Alzheimer’s. Because of that, he had genetic testing and was found to have the C9 mutation. I hate this disease but am trying to make peace with all the changes we are going through and the inevitable result since we have no real treatment.
