I am Kathy Lamarre

a family member of someone we've lost to ALS

Massachusetts

Sheryl Zemaitis Pastore, I love you and I miss you so much. ❤️

ALS affected our family when my sister Sheryl told us that she had this horrible disease. Sheryl was my oldest sister who was always there for me, kind of like my protector. There was nothing worse than watching her go through all the stages of ALS. From losing her ability to talk, early on, then her ability to walk, eat, to watching her being suctioned out just to breathe.

She kept a smile on her face as much as she could, and cared about what other people thought and hoped she could make them comfortable. She fought until she had no more. This disease has been around for so long no one should have to go through this. I miss her every day. Let’s find a cure, a way to stop this disease. Let’s find a cure even though it’s too late for many but so that no one else has to go through what my sister went through. Sheryl Zemaitis Pastore, I love you and I miss you so much. ❤️
