I am Jonathan Stewart

living with ALS

Ohio

I hope I am here for decades to come to celebrate both my children’s triumphs like I did that day and maybe stick around to see a grandkid do the same.

Before my ALS diagnosis, I always helped coach my sons baseball team. Two years ago my sons 8U team had a 1 run lead in the bottom of the last inning. With the opposing team at bat and my son (Drake) playing 2nd base they had 2 outs with the bases loaded. The pitch came in and *crack*, pop-fly to 2nd, as I stood in the dugout I think my heart stopped, even though we had practiced pop-flys all the time I was unsure if he was ready for such a crucial play. As he got under the ball it seemed as everything was in slo-mo. As the ball reached his glove and he hauled it in I yelled like I had won the lottery. I hope I am here for decades to come to celebrate both my children’s triumphs like I did that day and maybe stick around to see a grandkid do the same. #ProudDadMoment #EndALS
