I am Jennifer Bullard

living with ALS

California

All the doctors in the compartmentalized system kept clearing me and dismissing me because I was anatomically normal.

I was just diagnosed with bulbar ALS. All the doctors in the compartmentalized system kept clearing me and dismissing me because I was anatomically normal. They told me I was fine and there was no reason they could see to explain my dysarthria.

I had to take myself to the ALS neurologist to say: no one will tell me what is causing me to slur my words. Yep. Motor neuron disease. The worst.

Lesson to all those who dismiss scared girls who slur their speech. Send them to a motor neuron specialist.
