I am Elaine Hill

living with ALS

Arkansas

I have always been very independent, I was my family's taxi, babysitter, problem solver and financial support.

I have always been very independent, I was my family’s taxi, babysitter, problem solver and financial support. I had a full time job also, until this MONSTER ALS took over my entire life.

No more running and helping people, no more holding babies which I loved so much. No more getting up in church and giving GOD praise by lifting your hands up to him, or running and shouting. No more road trips because you can’t even go to the bathroom by yourself. Hard to eat out in public because of embarrassment because you don’t dress the same, can’t fix hair, can’t put on makeup and probably gonna drop food on you or have to be fed.

This is the most HORRIBLE thing a person can go through, you can’t shower, brush hair, teeth, scratch when you have that terrible itch, cook, clean — just sit. BUT I still can serve my JESUS, cry to him, listen to my wonderful Christian music, and realize the day is coming when I will do ALL this again. There is a reason, Trust in the LORD with all thine heart and lean not to thine own understanding. Hopefully through this trial souls will be saved. I wanna be like JOB in the Bible. Help me LORD JESUS.
