I am David Travis

living with ALS

Pennsylvania

I have lost my ability to speak and can eat very few foods.

Served 27 years in the US NAVY. Retired 2019, and was diagnosed with ALS may 2021. First symptoms showed up January of 2021. Bulbar ALS. I have lost my ability to speak and can eat very few foods. I normally feed through a tube. My breathing has diminished and I use a positive pressure machine all night and sometimes during the day. I still have use of my limbs but they are weakening day by day. I am a Christian and know I am in God’s hands. That brings me comfort. This disease is terrible not just for us who have it but more so for those who love us and change their lives to care for us.
