I am Darlene LaMountain

a friend of someone we've lost to ALS

New York

We asked WHY? He was a great person, son and new dad. His daughter was 3 months old when God took him from all of us.

I want to share my story of my son’s best friend who at the age of 29 lost his battle with ALS. He was a 3 star athlete and high school football quarterback, over 1000 points in basketball, and a baseball winning pitcher. We asked WHY? He was a great person, son and new dad. His daughter was 3 months old when God took him from all of us. He needed help to hold her when she was born. And his voice was taken from him and he couldn’t tell her he loved her.

He was in a wheel chair. His mom and wife took care of him daily. He was the 2nd child his mom lost… his sister was kidnapped and murdered. So heartbreaking to say the least. He left behind to cherish his memory his 90 year old grandmother, mom and dad (he died from brain cancer) and his brother and sister.

This is a very cruel disease. I have a very hard time with wasted money spent by our government on space travel and other useless things like the salaries of our political leaders. MORE RESEARCH NEEDS TO BE DONE TO HELP ALL THE ALS SUFFERERS AND DONE SOON SO NO ONE HAS TO DIE… OR GO THROUGH THE PAIN AND HURT KNOWING THERE IS NO CURE.
