I am Angela Bowman

a family member of someone we've lost to ALS | someone who cared for a person we've lost to ALS

My mom was diagnosed with ALS a few years ago. It was difficult to find a diagnosis until she was far along into the illness. Unfortunately, she had an aggressive form of the disease. I saw her deteriorating before my eyes and felt helpless that I couldn’t do more for her.

We were only able to afford a part time care giver so the rest of the time the family stepped in. Thankfully we had help with medical supplies through the ALS Association and then Hospice care.

It was a difficult journey watching someone you love become a former shell of themselves. Amazingly enough her positive personality shines through. Always a smile on her face in spite of the pain and her unfailing faith in God pulled her through. We lost her in November 2021. I miss her every day but know that she is no longer suffering from this terrible illness.
