I am Alexis Behan

a family member in a familial ALS family,

a family member of someone we've lost to ALS,
an ALS gene carrier,
caring for someone living with ALS,
someone who cared for a person we've lost to ALS

California

An estimated ten members of my family have been diagnosed with ALS including my younger brother, father, grandmother, aunt and uncle.

My name is Alexis and I carry the SOD1 ALS gene. An estimated ten members of my family have been diagnosed with ALS including my younger brother, father, grandmother, aunt and uncle. My brother was diagnosed in May 2022 at the age of 34, two years after our father passed during the height of covid.

We lost our mother to lung cancer in October 2022 and I’m just trying to make sense of this world, but reaching out to the ALS community seems right.
