Finkelstein Public Library, ALS Awareness Event

May 27 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm

The Finkelstein Memorial Library is hosting a virtual event in collaboration with I AM ALS.. This event is dedicated to raising awareness of Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) in our community.

We encourage everyone in the community to join us for this one-hour virtual event as we come together to learn, share, and support those affected by ALS.

As part of the event, the I AM ALS Community Outreach Team will present the Tim Lowrey ALS Panel Series, featuring a virtual panel discussion. This is an excellent opportunity for your group, class, association, organization, or club to engage directly with experts and individuals who have been impacted by ALS.
Panelists will discuss:

Personal stories of symptoms, diagnosis, and living with ALS
The profound ways in which ALS affects individuals and their families
Best practices for engaging with individuals who cannot speak, walk, or have different abilities
A live Q&A session, where panelists will answer questions and engage in a meaningful dialogue with attendees

Dr. Melinda S. Kavanaugh, CEO of Global Neuro YCare, will also be joining the event to introduce the LUKi and the Lights film, which highlights the impact of ALS on individuals and their loved ones, offering a powerful and moving perspective on living with the disease. The short film was written by a family loving with ALS, and designed to help explain the disease to children of all ages. Dr. Kavaaugh will also discuss the series of books available on Global Neuro YCare, on ALS, including a graphic novel, and books for teens, young adults, families and school personnel.

This event is free and open to all, and we invite you to participate in this important conversation about raising awareness and supporting the ALS community.
