Mission Statement: To build a unified ALS advocacy partnership to engage athletic entities and high-profile sports figures in raising awareness, funding research, and supporting the ALS community.
Goals:
- Grow the ALS community, raise awareness, and connect with advocates, individuals with ALS (pALS), and their caregivers (cALS) in comfortable and fun environments.
- Involve professional and collegiate sports leagues in promoting public awareness and fundraising efforts to improve care for those living with ALS, support caregivers, and ultimately end the disease.
What we do:
- Identify major events for ALS awareness campaigns
- Develop educational resources tailored to sports audiences
- Provide visibility to people living with ALS and their loved ones
- Partner with ALS organizations across the country
- Bring together the ALS community for a day of fun and advocacy
Accomplishments:
- On January 9, 2025, the Orlando Magic had its first ever ALS Awareness “event.” Randy Gregory was recognized on court as a person living with ALS. See the video and pictures below and read more about the event from Randy’s perspective.
- Created a coalition with 10 other ALS organizations to embark on an ALS Awareness in Sports initiative
What we are working on:
- Expanding awareness to professional and collegiate sports organizations (NFL, NBA, NHL, NCAA, MLS, WNBA, etc.)
- Strengthening engagement with high-profile athletes and celebrities affected by ALS
- Growing our outreach to diverse communities worldwide
