I am Kristin Rankin

living with ALS

Illinois

While I can no longer play my favorite sport, every year I cheer on the Divas at a charity tournament for breast cancer.

Before ALS permanently put me on the DL, I spent most summer Sundays for nearly two decades playing 16 inch softball (a uniquely Chicago sport) with my best friends, the Southside Divas. (That’s me on the far left in the back row, after winning the championship one year.) While I can no longer play my favorite sport, every year I cheer on the Divas at a charity tournament for breast cancer. My awesome teammates won’t let me be sidelined – I’m their pinch “runner.”
