I am Stephen Weber

living with ALS

Maine

I do not feel sorry for myself, nor would I want anyone else to.

I was diagnosed with ALS on October 8, 2021 at the age of 79. I have already lived a full and productive life.

I do not feel sorry for myself, nor would I want anyone else to.

However, I do want us to put our collective minds/will together toward finding a cure for this nasty disease.

It is a strange (and ought to be an unacceptable) thing to be told with regard to a life-altering condition that, “We do not know what causes it.” “We do not know how to treat it.” “We do not understand its progression.” “There is no cure.”

This must change. Which means that we must each do what we can to bring about that change.
