I am Stephanie Werner

a family member of someone living with ALS

Indiana

As Tim says, “life is short, eat dessert first.”

My name is Stephanie Werner. I am the wife and caregiver to my courageous husband Tim Werner who has been battling ALS since 2018. I have attached a picture of us at the recent Garth Brooks concert at The Notre Dame Stadium in May of 2022.

Life is good and it was even better before ALS. We both had our jobs in administration, enjoyed pulling our camper for adventures, and going on motorcycle rides; often getting lost and stopping to pull up the map to figure out where we were and how to get back home.

Much like ALS – there is no route, no map, no guide or direction. This disease is relentless at taking what you once had. It doesn’t stop – years of atrophy, pain, frustration & loss. It takes away physically, emotionally, and is mentally draining once what’s lost is recognized by oneself or others. It could always be worse and each day we rise we are so very grateful for that day. As Tim says, “life is short, eat dessert first.” We will remain #wernerstrong through all of what God has in his plan for our future.
