I am Mary Solon

a family member of someone we've lost to ALS

Illinois

Somehow I got thru the dark days by realizing how lucky we both were and how many blessings we had.

My husband Patrick passed away May 16, 2022. He bravely fought in his battle with ALS for 7 years. As one of his primary caregivers, I struggled with keeping up with his needs, working full time and running a household. Some days I didn’t think I could do it anymore. I felt that I wasn’t doing enough for him. Somehow I got thru the dark days by realizing how lucky we both were and how many blessings we had. Pat gave me a reason to keep going. He had a positive attitude most of the time and a great sense of humor. I was blessed to be his wife for 15 years.
