I am Mary Petty

a family member of someone we've lost to ALS

Alabama

She was a homemaker and an excellent cook who always had the best food and hosted amazing parties where she was the caterer.

We watched my mother in law pass away to this cruel disease. She was a vibrant person who lived life to the fullest and loved talking with friends. Towards the end of her life, she couldn’t speak, eat and could only get water through a syringe we had to squirt into her mouth.

She was a homemaker and an excellent cook who always had the best food and hosted amazing parties where she was the caterer. She became someone who she didn’t recognize.

Our biggest blessing is that she was diagnosed late in her ALS and she didn’t suffer long. We feel that she had been hiding for years how badly she was truly doing. This is by far the cruelest disease on not only the victim, but also the family that has to witness their loved ones demise until they finally pass onto their heavenly life.
