I am Katherine Samiljan

a friend of someone we've lost to ALS

Florida

Ron was a fun, kind, caring, funny, adventurous person and it was all taken away from him, leaving his wife, 3 sons, and grandchildren.

This isn’t my story. This is the story of Ron Weiland. Ron was my dad’s best friend since we moved to Florida. He was a pilot like my dad for a commercial airline, and they became fast friends.

In 2017, as I was recovering from cancer, Ron was diagnosed with bulbar palsy. Ron was always asking my dad about me and supportive when I was sick, and it was devastating watching him suffer with this terrible disease.

Ron was a fun, kind, caring, funny, adventurous person and it was all taken away from him, leaving his wife, 3 sons, and grandchildren. We couldn’t help Ron, but I am here to do what I can to raise awareness in the hopes that one day ALS isn’t what it is now.
