My name is DeVona Hickerson. I am a mom of two high school-age kids, a wife, and school teacher. I was diagnosed on March 5, 2021. My father died from ALS in 1983, my sister died in 2014 from ALS, and my brother died in 2014 from frontotemporal lobe dementia.

It’s sad to think this disease has been around 140 years, and we still have no better than two mediocre medicines for ALS. Stunningly, 60% of people know nothing about ALS. We have to change this, and now. Time is of the essence. ALS patients wither away quickly and die within 2 to 5 years.
