Be a part of the Black Bears’ Lou Gehrig Day!

The S.E.T.H. Project, ALS Association, and I AM ALS are teaming up with the West Virginia Black Bears to host Lou Gehrig Day, Wednesday June 7, 2023, at 6:30 pm ET. Come on out for this incredible event and help us raise awareness of ALS.

So who is Lou Gehrig?

Lou Gehrig was an incredible baseball player, who is still widely regarded as one of the greatest baseball players of all time. He retired early from baseball due to his diagnosis of ALS.

So what is ALS?

ALS is a disease that attacks cells in the body that control movement. It makes the brain stop talking to the muscles, causing increased paralysis over time. Ultimately, people living with ALS become unable to eat, talk, breathe, or move on their own. ALS will affect 1 in 300 people in our lifetimes, and people usually have no more than 2-5 years to live following diagnosis.

Join us!

Step up to the plate and join us to celebrate one of the greatest baseball players of all time and raise ALS awareness!

We are working with ballparks to make this day as incredible as possible. If you are a person living with or impacted by ALS, please mark which activities you would like to participate in. Please note that these are only sample activities and they might not occur at every stadium.
